Camp Verde is located about 15 minutes form Cottonwood, about 40 minutes from the old mining community of Jerome, 45 minutes from Sedona and Prescott, and is roughly half-way between Phoenix and Flagstaff on Interstate 17. The town is also the site of Cliff Castle Casino, operated by the Yavapai-Apache Nation Indian tribe. This is one of the most popular casinos in the state, and makes Camp Verde an important gambling destination. The Verde River Valley, the Mogollon Rim and Prescott National Forest offer popular outdoor activities. Montezuma' s Castle National Monument which contains some of the nation' s best preserved cliff dwellings and is the seventh most visited natural attraction in the state is just north of town.
